TAS is running a session on risk assessment and trust in socio-technical AI-systems and provide networking resource at the European Big Data Value Forum in Budapest, Hungary 2-4 October 2024.

This is to support the community of industry professionals, business developers, researchers and policymakers from all over Europe and other regions of the world to advance policy actions and industrial and research activities in the areas of Data and AI.

Drawing on insight gained through the TAS funded projects, AI continues to integrate into diverse sectors, understanding the complexities of managing risks and fostering trust in these systems is paramount.

The TAS’ session will delve into the intricacies of socio-technical systems, where human, organisational, and technological elements intertwine, presenting unique challenges and opportunities. It will be an occasion to listen to similar experiences in the EC landscape.

TAS Impact Director Professor Michael Boniface explained: “Lead by the experience gained by the TAS-UK hub and complemented by the contribution of ongoing projects the session will cover key strategies for identifying and mitigating risks associated with AI. These include algorithmic bias, data security, privacy, and system transparency emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration among technologists, policymakers, and end-users since the design phase of the systems.”

Dr. Stefano Modafferi, also involved in TAS and chair of the session highlighted “the importance of linking UK programs like TAS with EC initiatives and projects, so to create a European View of Trustworthy AI that would include UK in the picture.

The TAS Programme is one of the largest UK programmes linking AI and Robotics, so this is a great opportunity to join forces, strengthen existing relationships and build future collaborations.”
