Job description

In the TAS Hub, we are leading the UK’s research into trustworthy autonomous systems and we are looking for talented interns to join our projects. If you’re interested in using artificial intelligence in state-of-the-art research for industrial applications, you’re invited to apply for these positions. The first role is advertised below, others will follow in the coming weeks.

 

Task description:  

You will work with a group of researchers to develop a web-based simulation platform for a human-swarm system. The primary goal of your project is to simulate a group of unmanned aerial vehicles that will be operated by a single user. You will help us implement several swarm algorithms and interaction interfaces for drone operators.

 

Duration:

The positions will be for 3 to 12 months with the possibility for extension in similar projects. There are multiple open positions in the group of Dr Soorati and the intern will have the opportunity to continue the research and apply for a PhD position after the internship.

 

Essential requirements:  

  • BSc/Meng (graduate/student) in Computer Science, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, or similar fields.
  • You are expected to have excellent programming skills in Java
  • Interested in developing simulation environments
  • Motivated in the field of swarm robotics
  • Based in the UK for the duration of the internship

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Knowledge in JavaScript
  • Knowledge of Machine Learning
  • Knowledge of Formal methods is a plus
